Project Description

Perth High Street

AGB were delighted to be awarded a contract in Perth city centre at High Street to carry out fabric repairs to an historic building.  We worked closely with Arc Architects, Perth & Kinross City Council and the Owners of 13-17 High Street to upgrade the oldest building in Perth whilst maintaining its historic features.

The revitalisation of this rundown 17th Century city centre building and historic close has been recognised with the biennial Perth Civic Trust Award for restoration and renovation.  The assessors were impressed with the quality of the work, both technically and architecturally, at the tenement and hailed it as “an inspiring piece of restoration and renovation work to an important historic property now in multiple ownership.”

They noted: “With determination and skilful coordination, everyone pulled together to get the work done.  Traditional materials and trades were used and the completed project, other than for a minor issue concerning the visibility of external cabling, now sets the standard for the street and the centre of Perth as a whole.

“It sets the standard for other similar developments in the city centre.”

“It was good to be able to use a local firm of contractors on this common repairs contract on a listed tenement building comprising 2 shops and 5 flats.  The standard of workmanship has been excellent.  Where any problems arose, they were dealt with promptly.

I would have no hesitation recommending AGB as Allan and his team have been easy to do business with.”

Client

“AGB worked hard and delivered a complex job overcoming tricky access issues to successfully refurbish this historic building and also greatly improve the future maintenance of the adjoining light well.”
